Event 2017-09-13: Salsa at Irish Club then Drift Bar on Wednesdays!

It’s that Irish day again – every week more and more talented salseras turn up and it has becoming almost as good as a London venue in terms of the number of quality of dances I have! This week was no exception and I had a lot of excellent dances with some experienced salseras – old friends and new – and with a couple of talented beginners! This combined with the excellent salsa I’m experiencing at TLC  on Thursdays and Med Bar on Sundays is making my 5 nights of salsa dancing from Wednesday to Sunday more satisfying than ever before! On top of all that it’s always good to see my good friend and well known celebrity paratriathlon champion Lauren Steadman there to support the event and dance the night away although she wasn’t there tonight but she usually is. If you’d like to meet and dance with this amazing 3 times World Champion, Olympic Silver Medalist and 5 times European Champion you know where to come!

That was fun tonight after a busy week and 2 days rest:
Wed 6 at 9:30: Salsa at The Irish Club then Drift
Thu 7 at 9:30: Salsa at Tracie’s Latin Club (TLC) then Drift
Fri 8 at 10pm: Friday 8th September – 2 Rooms at Que Rico Salsa / Kizomba
Sat 9 at 10pm: Salsatricity then sleep in car near Uxbridge
Sun 10 at 11:20 Collect Katrinah in Uxbridge for a photo-shoot in Portsmouth at 2pm
Sun 10 at 8pm: Salsa, Bachata & Kizomba Fiesta at Medbar in 2 x Rooms with Katrinah
Mon 11 at 8pm: Drive Katrinah back to Uxbridge and drive back to Gosport

Tue 12: Supposedly a day of rest but my mobile phone (Samsung S3 Mini) conked out on Monday – the battery failed and wouldn’t charge anymore – and had to find a replacement quickly as I cannot drive at night without a mobile phone in case I have a problem with the car and need to call out the RAC. I managed to find a Samsung S3 Mini at CeX in Portsmouth for £85 and negotiated a £20 rebate from Virgin Media to buy a new battery for the old phone which I won’t bother to do. I’ll just use the one battery for the old phone when I need to get something from it that my Google Backup doesn’t bring over automatically! The new battery won’t charge in the old phone anyway so I have little choice but to discard it once I have brought over everything I need. Upgrading to a new Samsung S3 Mini with Virgin would have increased my monthly payment by £7 (from £6 to £13) and spending £65 is the equivalent of only paying £2.71 a month extra for 24 months. £8.71 a month for 2 years for Phone + 4G + 6GB + 300mins + Unlimited texts isn’t bad now is it!

MORE ABOUT SALSA AT THE IRISH CLUB AND DRIFT AFTERWARDS
Salsa Katanga runs an evening of salsa dancing at the Irish Club from 8:30pm-11pm every Wednesday evening! Join Katanga, Andy, Skye and Claire for salsa lessons, with 4 levels from beginner to advanced from 8:30pm or just come social dancing at 9:30pm as I do. It’s an excellent venue with parking nearby, sprung dance floor, reasonably priced drinks at the bar and a friendly atmosphere. A variety of salsa, bachata, animations and a taste of kizomba are played by a proprietor and DJ whose enthusiasm for salsa dancing is infectious to say the least ! 🙂
