Event 2017-11-09: Salsa at TLC in Southampton then Bailando at Drift in Southsea!

Tracie’s Latin Club (TLC) run a salsa night every Thursday at St Barnabas Church Hall, Lodge Road, Southampton SO14 6QS from 8pm to 11pm. Sometimes there is some extra at 7pm: either a bachata lesson for experienced dancers featuring Naomi Holloway or Joanna Wosk with partner Alex Magnusson or a Ladies Styling session featuring the amazing Joanna Wosk or the legendary Colleen Daniels. Then from 8pm-9:30pm the TLC team run the salsa lessons as usual. More details may be seen on the facebook group or the website. Tonight is just the usual TLC salsa lessons at 8pm.

I’m not interested in the the  lessons myself so aim to arrive around 9:30pm for the social dancing which for this night is mostly  salsa with some bachata but there is a room dedicated to kizomba lovers behind the stage. Afterwards I will be going to Drift in Southsea for DALE Afro Latin Entertainment‘s Bailando session until 3am. It has been good for the last few weeks because it was so crowded downstairs that people who wanted to dance have to go upstairs!

MORE ABOUT THE EVENTS
The proprietor, Tracie, has made arrangements with nearby places of business for parking to be allowed as the spaces in the grounds of the hall itself are quite limited and restricted to use by the ladies! You can park at Kwik Fit, Simply Bathrooms & Indigo Press. Be careful not to use the parking spaces next to Indigo Press because these are private spaces for the adjoining flats whose residents have been known to become quite angry when their spaces are used to the extent I once noticed that two cars had been parked on the pavement to prevent the offending cars from being driven off! The cars on the pavement each got a parking ticket so the police had to be called to sort it out!

St Barnabas Hall has good quality wooden dance floor, an excellent sound system, air conditioning that works and room for 150 dancers. Thoroughly recommended! :)
