My World

HEALTHY FOOD -> HEALTHY BODY -> HEALTHY MIND

(mens sana in corpore sano apud escam sanam)

I’m a computer guy who found salsa dancing very late in life (aged 57) and that took me to a place where I met a lady I loved and promised to look after for the rest of my life! I was 63 and she was 33 but age is just a number – it’s energy that counts!

Before I met Salsa Supergirl (Boikanyo) in 2008 I was known as Salsa Superman. I used to go salsa dancing 5 or 6 nights a week travelling up 1200 miles per week to venues within the geographical area circled by Southampton, Bournemouth, Reading, North London, Kent, Lewis, Brighton, Bognor & Southsea.

My favourite venue was always El Grande at the Colosseum in Vauxhall, London – now relocated to Scala in Kings Cross. My ex wife Boikanyo and I went there on the third Friday of every month during our 6+ years together and danced locally at the Irish Club in Southsea on Wednesdays whenever we could fit it into our busy schedules.

Since 2016 I’ve been back to my Salsa Superman days dancing 4 or 5 nights a week – not bad for a 73 year old guy (2Sep2018)!

Boikanyo’s daughter Katie is still the loving daughter she ever was and me the loving dad – even though we live 80 miles apart! She’s 21 now (20Aug2018) and reading Bio Medical Science at Hertfordshire University. She comes salsa dancing with me occasionally for a night or for a whole weekend if she can.

OUR SALSA DEBUT IN BOTSWANA

I remember it well – an energetic salsa dance in Boikanyo’s family compound on a 30°C Boxing Day in 2008 at Maun, Botswana on sand as hot as the nearby Kalahari Desert!. Don’t forget this is summer time at the Tropic of Capricorn (we drove passed that road sign on the way from Gaborone)! The line of latitude of the Tropic of Capricorn (23.5 degrees south of the equator) may be seen on this map!
