Miguel Mayana runs this salsa event in Balham at the White Eagle Club (aka Hamilton House) on the first Friday of every month. It is a welcome rebirth of the Que Rico event which used to run on the 2nd Friday of each month at The Bedford in Balham last year until it had to be closed for refurbishment. 2019-04-21: Scalalatina Easter Extravaganza Bank Holiday All-nighter!

The Latin Collective boast that Scalalatina is The UKs Biggest Latin club night with 1200+ people at each event! It's an all night event held on a Sunday at Scala from 6pm to 6am. There are workshops by the most famous teachers in the world until 9pm and then the party night runs from 9:45 until 6am and includes three world class performances on the stage in the main room at 00:30 and another three at 01:30. Miguel Mayana resumed his monthly salsa event in Balham at the White Eagle Club (aka Hamilton House) in February. As it is scheduled for every first Friday this clashed with my regular date at The Venue in Brighton but this month I decided that I had to to revisit Que Rico to see if it had regained its former glory because it used to be my favourite venue second only to El Grande. Event 2018-02-03: Salsa at ABCD XIII – Burn the Floor!

Fadi K runs events called ABCD from time to time - meaning AnyBody Can Dance - and the details of the latest one can be seen on the facebook event. I have been to most of them and would never miss the party night of these superb events for all the coffee in Brazil!  This is where I first met the most charming of all the salseras in the world today: Rasa - before she became world famous and I remember having a glorious salsa dance with her on that occasion and many others since.

I particularly enjoyed dancing with the glamorous blond from Bulgaria - I had many outrageous dances with this little ball of fire! As I was leaving I bumped into her outside and hug/kissed her goodbye and then her boyfriend did the same to me saying: "Respect!" 🙂 ❤

I always look forward to being part of the biggest and best monthly salsa dancing venue in the UK which is El Grande at Scala from 21:30 to 05:00 - 4 rooms for  salsa, cuban, bachata & kizomba - often attended by more than 1200 dancers! Hi Miguel - great evening but I thought I'd better let you know what I discovered about the air conditioning. I mentioned to one of the security men that the only air conditioner working was in the bar area of the kizomba room and that it was getting very hot in the main salsa room.
