Microwave Ovens without Turntables are Wonderful!

On Monday morning when I cooked my porridge the microwave blew up. I had to open the window and use a hair dryer to disperse the smoke. It was over 7 years old (Samsung ME733K from Argos 6 July 2015 £49.99) but I never thought its life would end like that! RICE, OSMOSIS & ARSENIC!

Do you add salt to water before boiling your rice to increase the boiling point of the water and make the rice cook quicker?

WRONG!

This is because the salt reduces the osmotic pressure between the boiling water and the rice which means less water passes through to the rice.
