TUMBLE DRYER STUFFED!

I recently noticed that my tumble dryer is taking more than an hour to dry clothes it used to dry in 40 minutes so I decided to check for fluff in the condenser as I haven’t done it for a year. It’s a messy job so I was putting it off. It was stuffed with fluff AND with a label from one of my pillow slips! Lol
Getting the condenser back in can be a problem (another reason why I put it off for so long) but I’ve discovered that you just have to give it angular lift up so the part where it engages lifts, lines up and clicks into place!
I’ll test it’s efficiency next Monday morning when I do the next load of washing. I have economy 7 so I set the timer on the washing machine to turn on at 4:15 so that the clothes are ready for the tumble dryer at 6am. That leaves up to 90 minutes of low price electricity (7p instead of 15p) available for the drying process remembering that for the last 10 minutes the heating elements are turned off to avoid the clothes lying in a heap still hot and thereby getting very creased!

THE TEST!

On Monday morning I woke up at 06:00 to transfer the washing to the tumble dryer and set it for 60 minutes. When I got up at 08:30 and tested the clothes they were perfectly dry so it looks like the fluff in the condenser WAS causing the problem. Must remember from now on the clear out the condenser every 3 months!
