2018-08-24: Salsa at Putney on Fridays!

I always enjoy the experience of attending Incognito‘s Putney Salsa Club which is run by the elegant Jeff Tarpinian and has a very friendly atmosphere. The venue has a superb professional dance floor for 200 dancers with an amazing sound system and air conditioning that works. The dance floor is normally used by Dance Lab for professional ballroom events. The event is on every Friday from 7pm to 11:45pm but I only go once a month usually on the 4th Friday of the month for the social dancing starting at 9pm because I like to go to different venues in London every weekend during the month.

VenueDance Lab Ballroom Hall, 63 Upper Richmond Rd, London SW15 2RD

Tickets: £10 for class & club (can get 3 for £24 if you pay in advance)

Details: See the ongoing facebook event, facebook page or website for details about teachers and classes. The social dancing begins at 9pm.
Travel: Close to mainline and underground Putney train stations.
FREE parking after 7pm on the main roads

Music: DJ Jeff plays the latest Salsa, Bachata & Cha Cha music.

A top class evening of salsa is guaranteed! 🙂

Philip Wake is feeling excited with Jeff Tarpinian and 2 others. Yesterday at 12:57 ·

Haven’t been to Putney Salsa & Bachata Club since 25 May so I’m very much looking forward to coming tonight!

Philip Wake I had some lovely dances tonight including a special one with Mia Amorbaila!
I’m going to tell you a story because it illustrates the kind of thing that happens to me a lot but whenever it does I am pleasantly surprised and reminded why I love salsa dancing so much.
I asked a lady for a bachata early on but she said: “I only dance salsa!”
“Have a go with me,” I said: “I can lead you!”
“I’m sure you can wait!” she said with an air of annoyance.
Later I asked her for a salsa and she said: “I’m just a beginner!”
“Don’t say that,” I said: “you’ll make yourself believe it! Close your eyes, relax and think of England!”
I started with just basic moves until she grew in confidence and then added extra moves one part at a time and by the end of the track she was dancing well with a big smile on her face! I love that smile . . .
Much later I asked her for a bachata again and she just took my hand. I started off with just the basic, then added one turn, then two turns and so on. Half way through she said: “I’m really following you! “I only want to dance with you from now on!
“Thank you!” I said – you would be welcome. Well every other dance anyway!” which made her smile and give me a big hug. 1 Love· 13h
