The Drift Bar in Southsea is the venue for Bailando every Thursday run by DALE Afro Latin Entertainment from 10pm to 3am. When I arrive around 10:30pm for the salsa dancing upstairs there are usually plenty of people who attended the earlier bachata lessons from 8 to 10pm staying on for an hour or so to practice to bachata music. Around 11pm the salsa music begins and people start arriving from downstairs particularly when it get crowded. Members of The Portsmouth University Salsa Club usually arrive around 11pm.
Recently salsa tracks have started earlier than 11pm and played more often which is most welcome to those of us who prefer the real thing! 😉
Sometimes there are not so many staying on from the earlier bachata lesson.
Sometimes many ladies come up later for a dance or two.
Sometimes the room empties around 12:30 and sometime people stay until much later.
This means the event is a bit of a mystery tour which makes it exciting whatever happens!

There’s plenty of parking round the back in the Ashby Place car park.

Looking forward to some salsa dancing around 11pm upstairs at Drift in Southsea after the bachata practice has finished after the lessons starting at 8:30. See you there around 10:30pm for a few bachata dances to warm up! 
The mystery tour upstairs at Drift turned a good corner tonight – lots of salsa tracks after 11pm and lots of salsa dances as well as bachata. Lovely to see you there Bonita – it’s been a while! Thanks for the lovely dances Hazel (x2 for good measure), Sarah, Camila (loved the boater) and some others including two beginners Velma & Wilestina who followed me so well for their first salsa dance! ❤️💃🔥🕺❤️
Philip Wake As I was leaving a young lady thanked me for my patience dancing with her on a previous occasion.
“My Pleasure,” said I and mentioned that I usually come every Thursday around 10:30pm if she wants to have another go, She said that she had been at Drift at that time tonight.
“Ah but I go upstairs where there’s bachata & salsa dancing every Thursday night!
I gave her a quick demo of bus stop technique for weight transfer right there on the pavement and she followed quite well in the circumstances. Her two friends looked interested and said that they would all be back next Thursday to dance with me! 😃❤️
