2019-05-04: Salsa Fusion at 229 The Venue London!

For details about this 1st first Saturday of the month salsa event see the facebook page: Salsa – Fusion. Sometimes there’s one on the 3rd Saturday too but this is never known in advance. There is rarely a shortage of good salseras to dance with and there’s always the Cuban room to cool down when you get overheated because it’s a smaller room with several enormous fans and Cubana can be less strenuous but it rarely happens that way for me! I always seem to attract ladies who like to go crazy on the dance floor . . . which I love of course . . . dancing without energy and passion is a poor thing indeed . . .

The entrance to 229 The Venue Great Portland Street is just past the barrier to the car park under the covered way! Just love the old favourites Johnny Gee – they’re the ones that make you want to keep dancing even when your legs say no! I particular don’t like the tracks I often hear played by some DJs that aren’t even salsa music because without that underlying clave there no driving force for the essential salsa rhythm of the dance which is what we yearn for!
Although I had lots of excellent conventional salsa dances tonight the best dance of the night was in the Cuban room with Miss Belly Dancer. I call her that because she was dressed like a belly dancer the first time I met her at the Millennium Salsa Ball on 9th March. I cannot do better than repeat my feedback for that night which was: “Together we invented a new kind of carnival salsa which was energetic, stylish and fun. It was as if we were on a float only we were floating on air! We made everybody smile including ourselves!” 🙂 ❤️
