2019-06-05: Salsa Explosion Wednesdays at Bar So Bournemouth!

Enrique Perez & his partner  Rob Carroll run an excellent evening of salsa at Bar So in Bournemouth every Wednesday. There are  bachata workshops from 7:30pm to 8:30pm followed by Cuban salsa workshops from 8:45pm until 10:30pm.  All levels are catered for with the one and only Moe Flex usually providing the advanced level for bachata & salsa.

The workshops are followed by social dancing until 1am with an excellent selection of good salsa music by DJ Enrique which will motivate you to dance all night. Although the salsa lessons are Cuban there are plenty of ladies attending who can dance cross body though most of the men do lead Cuban style!

As a proponent of Puerto Rican Salsa Romantica it’s not a problem for me to vary what I lead according to the preferences of the lady. (Puerto Rican means the best of cross body & cubana and Salsa Romantica means smooth & sensual.)

Timetable

  • 7:30pm Bachata workshops for various levels
  • 8.45pm Cuban Salsa classes for all levels in 5 Rooms
  • 10:15pm Salsa Social with DJ Enrique Perez which is when I arrive!
  • 1am Close

Venue: Bar SoExeter Rd, Bournemouth BH2 5AG

Winter Gardens Car Park 1 is the best place to park only a hundred yards from the venue! Drive down the hill (Exeter Road) and turn first left. Drive past the Truth Nightclub and turn left into the car park then left again to park as close as possible to the venue.

Philip Wake   I had a good time tonight dancing with Vendula, Julia, Mia, Jamie, Anca, Suzanne, Sue and many others but the most interesting was with Yana who is a beginner with a lot of potential. She gained a lot of confidence during her first dance with me because my leading made it easy for her to follow and understand the basic moves. Twenty minutes later I noticed she had already mastered keeping the quick quick slow going while she was being lead even if she wasn’t sure where to go next. During our third dance I introduced her to the bus stop method of weight transfer and that helped her become much smoother immediately. She said she would practice it from my gif at www.wake.co.uk/my-salsa during her Summer holidays back home in bulgaria and be ready for another dance with me in the Autumn! 🙂 ❤️
