2019-12-08: Salsa Funday Sunday at Popworld Brighton!

Salsa Brighton Dance run a salsa event weekly on Sundays at Revolution Brighton  featuring  Giulieta, Funky & Guest as instructors and Aaron George & Guest as DJs. The atmosphere is very friendly and I always feel very welcome. Tonight the venue was temporarily changed to Popworld Brighton due to competition from people running Christmas parties – bars always give them priority because they drink more alcoholic beverages.

Venue: Popworld at 59 West Street, Brighton BN1 2RA

Parking: There’s plenty of free parking on single yellow lines in nearby side roads.

Times: Bachata & cubana lessons 8pm to 10pm then social dancing until 2am. For more information click on the facebook links below.

Entrance: £6 for 1 class, £10 for two with social dancing free (Students with ID £3/£5).

Format: The salsa & bachata lessons are held on the ground floor and the social dancing upstairs in a spacious room with a good sound system and air conditioning that works.

Philip Wake Popworld Brighton is a good venue – a bit bigger than the Dungeon at Revolution Brighton with a reasonable dance floor, a good sound system and air conditioning that works. Unfortunately most of the ladies I usually dance with weren’t there but I did have a brilliant salsa dance with Giulieta at the beginning and an excellent one with Louise at the end. She smiled at me when we finished and said: “That was my best dance of the night!” I told her it was my pleasure because she was such a good follower. All in all I had a good time though with plenty of reasonable salsa and bachata dances in between and it was worth the journey from Gosport to Brighton and back – a round trip of 110 miles or so!

I’ll be back in 2 weeks for the last one of the year – presumably at Popworld Brighton again because salsa clubs don’t get a high priority when it comes to competing with people booking Christmas parties who tend to drink rather more alcoholic beverages than we salsa dancers do!
