An Electric Settee for Me!

The leather settee I bought 20 years ago for my old house and moved to my studio flat in Gosport 4 years ago finally collapsed so I was excited today to go out shopping for a new (second hand) one for hopefully £150. The only second hand furniture shop I could find open locally was Gosport Furniture Shop in Stoke Road. I walked in and there it was – just what I’ve always wanted. A high backed settee with leg-rests that come up at the touch of a button followed by the back-rests going down. The high back is particularly important as I found it very uncomfortable not being able to rest my head – particularly as my ADHD means that I always fall asleep watching TV!

The price is £475 which was a bit more than I wanted to spend but it’s as good as new with only one old lady owner who moved to a care home recently. In fact it only came in yesterday so I was lucky to find it before anybody else did! The online discounted price for something similar is £1394.99 (was £1599.99) at Oak Furniture Land so it’s a good price!

My daughter Katie will happier when she next stays with me as the old settee wasn’t really long enough to sleep in. I’ll be happier every day because it’ll be much more comfortable than the old one which was so low backed I had to have something behind it to rest my head on!

The main problem is getting rid of the old one but my next door neighbour in the downstairs flat has agreed I can leave it on the lawn outside his flat until I can find somebody to come and collect it. I tried the Council but they wanted £25 and couldn’t collect until 7 July!

Has anybody got a van to help me out? If so please let me know by response to the post on facebook or by facebook messaging. Although the old settee is broken beyond saving I also have a wooden two-seater garden chair you are welcome to and I’ll give you £10 for your trouble! The new settee is coming tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10:30 so I really need to get rid of the old one as quickly as possible . . .
