SPOTLIGHT HAPPINESS!

Goodness knows why anybody would have installed kitchen spotlights in my studio flat but I realised when I moved in over 2 years ago that they must be expensive to run so I only turned them on when I needed to see well in the kitchen area.

One of the bulbs stopped working a few weeks ago and I’ve been meaning to replace it but wasn’t quite sure where to get them. Today in Asda I noticed there was an energy saving version (LED) costing only £4 for 3 twist-fit bulbs (GU10). These use 3.7w each as opposed to 20w for the original halogen versions. This means that if I leave the kitchen spots on for 12 hours a day it will only cost me £8.75 a year (less than 2½p a day) whereas the originals would have cost me £47.30 a year (13p a day).

I have to say it’s much nicer having a lit kitchen all day instead of just when I use it! I’ll probably turn them off while I’m watching TV at night as the bright lighting creates reflections in the screen but that only happens 2 nights a weeks as for 5 nights a week I’m out salsa dancing somewhere!
