2020-02-08: El Bembe Salsa Party at Editors Tap London!

Salsateca London and Ola Latina run a regular event called El Bembe every 4th Saturday of the month at Editor’s Tap. The atmosphere is very friendly as it was at The Bottlescrue for 6 years but the dance floor is better with air conditioning that actually works well! I always have a good time dancing to the motivational music of DJ Johnny Gee!

Format: The venue offers plenty of space for dancing mainly salsa and bachata in a long room parallel to the extensive bar.

Timetable:

  • 7:15 Bachata lessons
  • 8:15: Salsa lessons
  • 9:15: Social dancing
  • 2am: Close

Venue: Editor’s Tap at 5-11 Fetter Lane, London EC4A 1BR

Nearest Tube: Chancery Lane, Temple or Black Friars Station all are around a 5 minute walk.

Parking: There is parking in the streets nearby from 7pm onwards but as this venue is inside ULEZ and I have an old diesel car I park near Scala and use my free bus pass to travel the last 1.3 miles.

Entrance: £12 including a voucher for a free drink

Philip Wake I had lots of wonderful dances tonight with many experienced salseras that I have danced with before and many new ones too but I also danced with quite a few not so experienced ladies who said after our dance that they thought I was amazing. One said that she had never had a cross body lesson yet she was only able to have a good cross body salsa with me and not with any other man! ❤️
I showed her the “waiting for a bus” method of weight transfer which I said would maximise her ability to follow other men because it would keep her balanced at all times and ready to move in any direction even if the lead is at the last millisecond – see www.wake.co.uk/my-salsa for details! I then had a meringue with her so that she could practice the method and she agreed that it worked after I made a few surprise last millisecond leads in different directions yet she was able to follow me easily! I then had my best dance of the night so far with one of my favourite salseras and decided that it would be my last because I felt totally fulfilled and ready to go! ❤️
