Day 125 Salsa Walk

0850 ONLINE CONSULATATION WITH A FRIENDLY NURSE

I explained the problem and sent her the above picture from Day 123. She said that it’s probably just a reaction to the soft tissue injury rather than an infection which would usually have an infection site and result in the whole foot swelling up. I explained that I had had some blisters over the last few weeks which drew blood and could have provided bacterial entry points but she didn’t think the swelling was bad enough to be an infection.

She prescribed me Naproxen 250mg 3 times a day – a stronger NSAID than ibuprofen – together with Omeprazole 20mg once a day to protect my stomach lining. She said I should put my feet up as much as possible and rest for a few days until the swelling went down.

My electric sofa makes putting my feet up a real pleasure and as I sleep on it too my feet spend most of their time higher than my hips!

AT 0700 THE NEXT DAY

The left foot is a little bit less swollen than 2 days ago and the bulge on the first little toe is a little bit smaller but all my toes are a lot less stiff than before – when I could hardly move them at all – and I was able to perform the following exercise:

but they did become a bit stiffer while I was sitting at my desk creating this post so I went back to my electric sofa to put my feet up again!
